Florida State women’s basketball (4-1) returned to Donald L. Tucker Center and put on another show.
On Monday, the Seminoles matched their team’s best in points with a 119-57 victory over winless North Carolina Central.
“I’m really, really proud of this win tonight. I feel like we played a complete game, 40 minutes,” FSU coach Brooke Wyckoff said.
“We committed to what we wanted on the defensive end, and offensively, we just executed so well.”
Everything was going in. The Seminoles shot 52. 4 percent from the field and 13 3s. All five starters reached double figures.
Ta’Niya Latson returned to the lineup after missing the Samford game due to an illness. The senior guard recorded her first double-double in her FSU career after dropping 34 points and 10 assists.
O’Mariah Gordon added 21 points by knocking all three of her 3-pointers and eight free throws. Makayla Timpson nearly had her 35th double-double by putting 19 points and 9 boards.
Carla Viegas scored all her 18 points from shooting behind the arc, beating her career-high. Malea Williams finished 10 points and nine boards.
“I feel great,” Viegas said. “I also feel happy that I started a little bit bad, but I kept working and kept doing my extra shots, and now I am seeing the results.”
FSU will return to its home court on Friday at 7 p.m. to take on its rival, the Florida Gators (3-1), in the Sunshine State Showdown.
