Tomasino had a tough start to the season, posting just one assist in 11 games. However, when noting that he is a young former first-round pick who has shown promise at the NHL level in the past, he could have been an interesting player for the Philadelphia Flyers to take a shot on.

During this past season with the Predators, Tomasino has seven goals and 20 points in 41 games. In addition, he had 18 points in 31 games in 2022-23 and 11 goals and 32 points in 76 games as a rookie in 2021-22. Thus, he has shown that he can provide solid secondary offensive production at the NHL level.

Furthermore, when noting that Tomasino is just 23 years old, he still has time to break out and hit a new level potentially. Thus, he could have been a nice low-risk young forward for the Flyers to take a gamble on. This is especially so when noting that he can play both center and on the wing.

Alas, it will be fascinating to see how well Tomasino performs for the Penguins. Perhaps the change of scenery will benefit the Mississauga, Ontario native.
