James Colzie III is getting his Florida A&M football staff in order for the 2025 season.
The Rattlers’ head coach has made two additions to his staff for his second year leading FAMU football.
Coming from fellow NCAA Division I HBCU North Carolina Central, Cedric Williams and Kevin Maurice will join the Rattlers. Williams is the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Maurice is FAMU’s new running backs coach and recruiting coordinator.
Williams replaces former FAMU assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, and offensive line coach Joseph Henry, while Maurice is in for Marcus Windham, who held the same positions.
Williams and Maurice come to FAMU with a championship pedigree, assisting the NCCU Eagles to win the Celebration Bowl to claim the 2022 Black College Football National title.
Williams, a Charleston, South Carolina native, is a former four-year starting offensive lineman for the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he earned All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2000.
He began his coaching career in 2006 as a graduate assistant for the Gamecocks and has coaching stops at Tennessee State, Newberry College, Mississippi Valley State, and Georgia State. Williams also was a National Football League Bill Walsh Diversity Fellow with the Carolina Panthers (2012), Pittsburgh Steelers (2013), Minnesota Vikings (2015), and New York Giants (2018).
Maurice was an All-American running back at Eastern Arizona College in 2001 and 2002 before transferring to Texas-El Paso, playing for the Miners in 2003 and 2004.
Maurice, a Miami native, began coaching in 2008 as the offensive coordinator for North Miami High School’s football team. His coaching stops include Midwestern State, Nevada, Purdue, Eastern Washington, North Dakota, New Mexico State, Cincinnati, and Miami.
