Roner, who converted her breakout performance at last year’s Indoor Archery World Series Finals into her first results on the outdoor stage (including a win at the European Games), is the first repeat winner at the indoor season finals since US man Jesse Broadwater in 2018.
(He won in three consecutive years, from 2016 to 2018.)
Former World Archery Champion Jimmy Lutz’s one-point win (149-148) over Mike Schloesser in this year’s compound men’s final made him the sixth archer from the United States to collect the title in this division.
“It’s everything. My dad flew out yesterday, so I was super happy he could see this,” said Lutz, who is currently awaiting the birth of his first child.
Brady Ellison just had his second kid. He shot 12 perfect arrows in his final against the world’s number one ranked recurve man, Marcus D’Almeida of Brazil, and was rewarded with his fourth career indoor circuit crown. (Ellison’s previous wins came in 2012, 2013 and 2016, before the Indoor Archery World Series brand was introduced.)
The US crowd was prevented a third home winner by Kroppen’s five-set defeat of Casey Kaufhold.
Reigning World Archery Champion Marie Horackova finished third in the recurve women’s competition at this Indoor Archery World Series Finals.
