EA Sports College Football 26 video game release announced

by

College football fans were finally able to play the sport’s first video game in 11 years last summer. The game, EA Sports College Football 25, brought a ton of fanfare, finishing 2024 as the best-selling video game in the United States.

With the 2024 season set to conclude on Monday with a national title game between Notre Dame and Ohio State, we also now have a release time for next year’s edition of the game — EA Sports College Football 26.

“We said this place would be full again – thanks to our players, athletes, and fans for filling the house with us,” EA Sports wrote on X on Thursday. “Let’s keep that kick-off energy going until College Football 26 drops this summer.”

That summer release falls in line with the debut of last year’s game — it was released to the public on July 19.

The return of the popular video game franchise follows litigation from 2021 that resulted in collegiate athletes becoming able to profit off their name, image and likeness, something the NCAA had prohibited up until that date. The video game took three years to hit the market. Now that it has, it appears to be set for an annual update.

More information will become available on the specific date of EA Sports College Football 26’s release. For now, ‘this summer’ is all that’s been shared.
