Darrion Williams has been ruled out for the 19th-ranked Texas Tech basketball team’s Big 12 Conference game against TCU tonight, the team announced.
The Red Raiders and Horned Frogs are scheduled to tip at 6 p.m. Texas Tech designated Williams not expected to play with a lower-body injury.
Williams suffered an injury to his right ankle in Sunday’s win over Oklahoma State and did not return. It was the third ankle injury Williams has suffered in the past four games for the Red Raiders, though the first two hampered his left ankle.
Texas Tech began its team warmup around 5 p.m. without Williams on the floor. He later joined his teammates in street clothes and sporting a walking boot on his right foot.
Texas Tech coach Grant McCasland said Tuesday that Williams was considered a game-time decision against the Horned Frogs, adding the team is taking the latest setback slower than the first two.
Williams has started all 19 games for the Red Raiders this season. He is averaging 14.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 45.2% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range and 84.1% from the free-throw line.
Texas Tech (15-4, 6-2) is scheduled to play at No. 5 Houston on Saturday and host Baylor on Tuesday.
