Still searching for its first Big 12 Conference win, Colorado men’s basketball will welcome West Virginia to Boulder for an early Sunday afternoon matchup.
The Mountaineers (11-3, 2-1 Big 12) are currently ranked No. 21 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, but they have proven beatable. West Virginia is coming off a 75-56 home loss to the Arizona Wildcats and has also fallen to Pitt and Louisville.
Entering Sunday, guard Javon Small averages 19.4 points per game to lead the Mountaineers.
Colorado (9-5, 0-3 Big 12) remains winless in conference play after falling to Iowa State, Arizona State and most recently, UCF. Wednesday’s 75-74 loss to the Knights came in heartbreaking fashion as center Elijah Malone’s game-winning layup attempt was blocked at the buzzer.
Guard Julian Hammond III and forward Andrej Jakimovski are averaging 13.6 and 11.4 points per game, respectively, to lead Colorado’s scoring attack.
Tipoff between the Buffs and Mountaineers is set for 1 p.m. MT (ESPN+) at the CU Events Center.
