The Colorado Avalanche have recalled defenseman Keaton Middleton and forward Givani Smith from the Colorado Eagles, it was announced Saturday.
A product of Edmonton, Alta., Middleton has split time between the Eagles and Avalanche this season. While being held pointless in four games with the Avalanche, Middleton has collected four assists in 17 games for the Eagles.
Drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft, Middleton has played in seven career NHL games, having yet to register a point. Over 333 career AHL regular season games, he has scored 21 goals and added 64 assists for 85 points.
Smith, a 2016 second round pick of the Detroit Red Wings, has seen time with both the Avalanche and the San Jose Sharks this season. Acquired by the Avalanche in the Mackenzie Blackwood deal, Smith has yet to register a point in eight NHL games in 2024-25.
Over the course of 163 career NHL regular season games with the Red Wings, Sharks, Avalanche and Florida Panthers, Smith has put up nine goals and 22 points.
With both players being recalled, they should both be able to step into the lineup and provide a spark.
