The biggest week of the initial 12-team College Football Playoff has arrived.
But before we get to the conference championship games ― including a matchup between No. 1 Oregon and No. 4 Penn State for the Big Ten championship ― the penultimate set of rankings release on Tuesday that could determine a lot before the final 12-team bracket is released on Sunday.

Michigan shook up the CFP with a major upset victory over rival Ohio State in “The Game” on Saturday. With the loss, the Buckeyes are no longer in the championship game, but are still a virtual lock for the playoff field. Who else will join them, Oregon and Penn State, is now the question. Indiana only lost one game and has a good shot at joining in the bottom half of the bracket.

How to watch College Football Playoff rankings show
The fifth CFP rankings out of six of the 2024 season will air at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
The rankings can be streamed on the ESPN app or Fubo, the latter of which offers potential subscribers a free trial and carries the ESPN network family.

What time are CFP rankings reveal?
The fifth unveiling of the College Football Playoff rankings will occur at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Dec. 3. This will be the penultimate rankings show before the final rankings are revealed at noon ET on Sunday, following all of the conference championship games.

How many teams in College Football Playoff 2024?
The five automatic qualifiers will comprise the four champions of the “Power Four” leagues — the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC — with the fifth automatic qualifier going to the highest-ranked Group of Five champion. The four highest teams will earn a seeding between 1 and 4 and receive a first-round playoff bye. The final champion will get an automatic bid but must play a first-round game.
If the highest-ranked champion ends the final ranking outside the top 12 teams, it will be slotted into the No. 12 overall slot.
From there, the remaining at-large teams are seeded 5-12, with the 5-8 seeds hosting a first-round game on campus against the 9-12 seeds, respectively. The winners from the first round will advance to the quarterfinals and play the 1-4 seeds in their respective bowl games.

As the College Football Playoff committee has noted, no special arrangements will bar teams that have already played one another in the playoffs and the bracket will not be re-seeded. Once the playoff bracket is set, it will proceed with the initial seedings until the conclusion.
