Cleveland Cavaliers star guard Donovan Mitchell received a platelet-rich plasma injection Monday to treat a bone bruise in his left knee and will be out at least the next three games, the team announced.
Mitchell has missed the past two games with knee soreness. He will also be out Tuesday against the Boston Celtics, Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks and Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
His status will then be reevaluated over the weekend, according to the team.
Mitchell, 27, is in the midst of another excellent season, averaging 28 points to go along with 6.2 assists and 5.4 rebounds, and has helped carry an oft-injured Cavs team to a top-three seed in the East.
The Cavaliers enter Monday night a half-game back of the Milwaukee Bucks for the No. 2 seed and are four games up in the loss column on the New York Knicks, who are fourth.
