The No. 12 (USA TODAY) Hoosiers (21-4, 12-3) are coming off an unexpected blowout loss at Illinois. IU career leading scorer Mackenzie Holmes had 24 points but was clearly upset afterward: “I only have a few games left in the regular season, so we just gotta figure it out. We got to figure out how to come from behind. I gotta be better at protecting the rim. It’s just, I’m not a good loser. That’s all there is to it.”
IU women’s basketball leaders: Holmes (20.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 blocked shots); Sara Scalia (16.0 points, 43.8% 3-pointers); Yarmen Garzon (11.6 points, 45.3% 3s, 4.2 rebounds); Chloe Moore-McNeil (10.4 points, 42.5% 3s, 4.8 assists, 1.4 steals); Sydney Parrish (10.2 points, 39.3% 3s, 5.6 rebounds). Parrish played 6 minutes against Illinois after missing several games with a leg injury.
The No. 4 Hawkeyes (23-3, 12-2) have had a weeklong break since Caitlin Clark broke the NCAA Div. I women’s basketball scoring record in a 106-89 victory over Michigan. She enters the game with 3,569 career points. Her next scoring milestones are Lynette Woodard (3,649 during the pre-NCAA period of women’s basketball) and Pete Maravich (men’s record of 3,667).

Iowa beat Indiana 84-57 on Jan. 13 in Iowa City as Clark scored 30 with 11 assists and Molly Davis added 18 points. Iowa led 43-37 at halftime and ran away in the third quarter. Holmes led IU with 16 points.
The Hoosiers are 13-0 at home this season and the Hawkeyes are 7-2 in road games.
