The Ohio State Fall Invitational continued from McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus on Friday with the Day 2 finals.

Indiana took the lead in both meets behind Anna Peplowski and Miranda Grana.

Women’s 200 Medley Relay






For the second night in a row, the Louisville women started the session with a relay win.

This time it was by just a hundredth of a second.

Abby Carl, Ella Welch, Gabi Albiero and Julia Denis got to the wall in 1:35.89.

Meanwhile, Indiana’s Kacey McKenna, Kabria Chapman, Miranda Grana and Kristina Paegle were one hundredth behind at 1:35.90.

Just a tenth of a second behind them was Ohio State’s team of Nyah Funderburke, Maria Ramos, Paige Hall and Teresa Ivan, which finished in 1:36.00.

Men’s 200 Medley Relay

Louisville’s men followed the women’s lead with a win in the 200 medley relay. It wasn’t a hundredth of a second, but it was an extremely close race.

Louisville’s Yassin Abdelghany, Denis Petrashov, Dalton Lowe and Guy Brooks won in 1:22.59.

Indiana took the next two spots with Luke Barr, Josh Matheny, Finn Brooks and Dylan Smiley finishing in 1:22.77 and Miroslav Knedla, Brian Benzing, Tomer Frankel and Mikkel Lee touching in 1:23.09.

Women’s 100 Butterfly

Indiana sophomore Miranda Grana dropped six tenths from prelims to win the 100 butterfly in 51.10.

She finished eight tenths ahead of the field.

UCLA graduate student Emma Harvey took second in 51.89.

Louisville’s duo of Ella Welch (52.24) and Gabi Albiero (52.29) were close behind.

Men’s 100 Butterfly

Yale freshman Nicholas Finch held off two Indiana seniors to earn a victory in the 100 fly.

Finch got to the wall in 45.50, just a tenth of a second ahead of Indiana’s Finn Brooks (45.60).

Luke Barr was not far behind at 45.96, followed by Louisville graduate student Dalton Lowe (46.00).

Women’s 400 IM

Ohio State senior Mia Rankin dropped a second from prelims and won the 400 IM in 4:08.74.

It was a half second ahead of UCLA’s Paige MacEachern, who got to the wall in 4:09.31.

Indiana sophomore Reese Tiltmann took third in 4:09.50.

 

Men’s 400 IM

Ohio State junior Tristan Jankovics bested the field by more than two seconds to win the 400 IM in 3:39.05.

Indiana sophomore Toby Barnett took second in 3:41.41.

Women’s 200 Free

Indiana senior Anna Peplowski used a fast start in the 200 free and was able to hold on for victory.

The Paris Olympian started with a 24.04 split to lead from start to finish and touch the wall in 1:42.36, more than a second ahead of the field.

Ohio State freshman Sienna Angove took second in 1:43.55, followed by Louisville freshman Daria Golovaty in 1:43.99.

 

Men’s 200 Free

Ohio State junior Tomas Navikonis won the men’s 200 free in 1:31.55.

After a strong drop from prelims, Louisville senior Murilo Santori was just behind in 1:31.87.

Yale junior Noah Millard finished third in 1:32.85.

 

Women’s 100 Breaststroke

Cincinnati junior Joleigh Crye was close to breaking 59 seconds in her 100 breast win.

She finished in 59.06 to finish a half second ahead of the field.

Louisville junior Mia Cheatwood was second in 59.48, while Ohio State senior Ava DeAngelis was third in 59.97, the only three in the field to break a minute.

Men’s 100 Breaststroke

Indiana veterans claimed three of the top four spots in the 100 breaststroke in a big point swing for the Hoosiers.

Graduate student Brian Benzing took first in 52.03, while senior teammate Josh Matheny was second in 51.15.

Indiana grad student Jassen Yep was fourth in 51.59 just behind Louisville’s Denis Petrashov (51.19).

 

Women’s 100 Backstroke

Indiana sophomore Miranda Grana continued her strong meet with a convincing win in the 100 backstroke. She got to the wall in 51.18.

Two more swimmers were under 52 with Indiana junior Mya Dewitt taking second in 51.86 and Ohio State senior Nyah Funderburke finishing third in 51.95.

Men’s 100 Backstroke

Indiana junior Owen McDonald broke 45 seconds to earn the 100 backstroke win in 44.93, nearly a second ahead of the field.

Penn State junior Cooper Morley finished second in 45.72, while Indiana’s Gavin Wight was third in 45.90.

Women’s 800 Free Relay

Indiana’s Elyse Heiser, Miranda Grana, Anna Peplowski and Ching Gan closed the night with a win in the 800 free relay (7:00.28).

Ohio State’s Sienna Angove, Tia Lindsay, Erin Little and Rachel Bockrath took second in 7:00.77.

Louisville’s Summer Cardwell, Daria Golovaty, Tristen Ulett and Celidonioanda Gomes took third in 7:03.43.

Men’s 800 Free Relay

Indiana closed the men’s night with a win in the 800 free relay.

Cooper McDonald, Owen McDonald, Dylan Smiley and Tomer Frankel won in 6:13.50.

Louisville was second in 6:14.30 with Denis Loktev, Murilo Santori, Gregg Enoch and Guy Brooks.

Ohio State was third with Tristan Jankovics, Tomas Noavikonis, Jordi Vilchez and Alex Axon finishing in 6:19.73.
