Toledo dominated the first half, building a 42-25 lead, and cruised to an 88-66 win over the University of Akron in Mid-American Conference women’s basketball Wednesday at Rhodes Arena.
Junior forward Reagan Bass scored 15 points to lead four Zips in double figures. Junior Zakia Rasheed added a career-high 12 points, and junior Kaia Woods and sophomore Lanae Riley contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench.
Akron (7-12, 2-7), which trailed 22-12 at the end of of the first quarter, rallied to within 50-41 on two free throws by Riley midway through the third quarter before the Rockets (15-4, 8-1) pulled away again.
Quinesha Lockett scored 21 points to lead five Toledo players in double figures.
