South Carolina women’s basketball looks to keep its perfect season going as it hopes to add a win in the SEC Tournament semifinals against Tennessee on Saturday.
Coach Dawn Staley and the No. 1 seed Gamecocks (30-0) started its defense of the SEC Tournament title by handing Texas A&M a 79-68 loss in the quarterfinals on Friday. Senior center Kamilla Cardoso scored 17 points and freshman guard Tessa Johnson added 13.

In two regular season matchups between the Gamecocks and the No. 9 seed Lady Vols (19-11), South Carolina won both games but faced strong competition from Tennessee. The Lady Vols’ eight-point loss to the Gamecocks in Columbia was the smallest margin of victory for South Carolina at home all season.
The Gamecocks are led by 6-foot-7 forward Kamilla Cardoso, who’s averaging 14.1 points and 10 rebounds per game this season on 58.1% shooting.
