The Americas’ leading para archers are heading to Peru for the Lima 2026 Para Pan American Championships, where qualifying places for next year’s Lima 2027 Para Pan American Games are up for grabs.
A total of 38 places will be awarded across the compound, recurve and W1 events. The allocation includes nine places each in compound men and recurve men, seven each in compound women and recurve women, and three in W1 across men and women.
The championships feature doubles competition, which will award the first qualifying places in compound and recurve. The top three pairs in each discipline – 12 men and 12 women in total – will earn places, with the remaining quotas allocated according to the final rankings in the individual medal events.
Four additional places earned at the 2026 Para South American Games in Valledupar will also be allocated after this event, alongside four for the Central American and Caribbean region.
The competition follows the Santiago 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series in Chile, with many archers travelling north to compete in both events.
Peru’s Daniela Cecilia Campos Marzano arrives after making history in Santiago, where she became the first archer from her country to win gold on the World Para Series circuit. The recurve archer also won at the Santiago 2023 Para Pan American Games and will be looking to carry that form into the continental championships.
Other recent winners from Santiago, including the USA’s Kevin Polish and Jason Tabansky and Brazil’s Thiago Pinheiro da Silva, will be looking to secure qualifying places early. Mexico’s Samuel Molina is another leading contender.
The event also features under-21 and visually impaired (VI) divisions.
With the Asian Para Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 taking place at the same time, the Americas’ leading archers will be looking to make their mark in Lima and take an important step towards next year’s continental Games.
