Georgia Bulldogs Land 2028 Verbal From SwimMAC Carolina’s Eli Sweet
NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has scored its second public verbal commitment for Fall 2028, this time from Eli Sweet of Belmont, North Carolina. Sweet, one of the top recruits in the class, is a versatile Nationals qualifier.
He will join Coyle Moore in Athens as a member of the Bulldogs’ Class of 2032.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am excited and humbled to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at the University of Georgia! I would like to thank God for the countless blessings, as well as my family, friends, and teammates. Special thanks to Coach Chuck, Coach Ben, and Coach Cutts for helping me reach my dream. Lastly, I want to thank Coach Neil, Coach Mike, and Coach Nate for giving me this opportunity to be a part of the program. GO DAWGS”
Sweet trains year-round with SwimMAC Carolina. He most recently placed 10th in the 400m IM and 12th in the 200m IM at Junior Nationals after he raced three events at Nationals. He finaled in the 200m free and 400m IM at the U.S. Open in December before going on to win the 200 breast at North Carolina Short Course Seniors in February and place fifth in the 400 IM at Indianapolis Speedo Sectionals in March.
His best times include:
- 200 IM – 1:47.59
- 400 IM – 3:48.73
- 100 breast – 56.00
- 200 breast – 1:59.17
- 200 free – 1:37.76
- 500 free – 4:28.42
Currently a junior at Gaston Christian School, Sweet is a four-time NCISAA Division 2 State Championship gold medalist and a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. He won the 200 free and 500 free as a freshman, as well as the 200 IM and 500 free as a sophomore.
Georgia finished fourth at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships and 15th at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
