Crimson Aquatics’ Kian Grabar Verbally Commits to Pitt’s Class of 2031
NEW COMMIT: The University of Pittsburgh has scored a new verbal commitment for Fall 2027 from Kian Grabar of North Reading, Mass. Grabar is a versatile Junior National qualifier, and he is the Panthers’ first public verbal commit for their Class of 2031.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m honored to announce my commitment and continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh! First I want to thank God, who guiding me through every step of this journey and giving me a reason to give every day my all. I also want to thank my parents, my teammates and my Coaches for helping and supporting me through the process. Lastly, I wanted to say a big thank you to the amazing coaching staff at Pitt especially Coach Matt and Coach Kaersten for this incredible opportunity. I am super excited for what’s coming up ahead. Hail to Pitt”
Grabar, who does his club swimming with Crimson Aquatics, earned two best times at Juniors East last December before going on to win the 200 fly with four other top-5 finishes at New England Senior Championships the following week. He then collected silver in the 400 IM at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals in March.
His best times include:
- 100 fly – 49.42
- 200 fly – 1:48.09
- 100 back – 50.37
- 200 back – 1:49.23
- 200 IM – 1:51.14
- 400 IM – 3:52.68
- 200 free – 1:40.29
- 500 free – 4:30.38
Grabar has recently dropped a lot of time in his best events: nearly nine seconds in the 400 IM; seven seconds in the 500 free; three seconds in the 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 free; two seconds in the 100 back and 200 IM; and about a second in the 200 back.
The Panthers finished 11th at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships.
