It isn’t hard to determine where Georgia football had to shore up areas on its roster for the 2025 season.
Wide receiver and defensive backs were two spots coach Kirby Smart and staff targeted.
The Bulldogs brought in six players on signing day for the secondary in the December period and added three more out of the transfer portal
Georgia signed five wide receivers in its recruiting class and brought in three more wideouts via the portal.
The Bulldogs also signed five offensive lineman and five defensive linemen in this class. Those are two areas where there will be plenty of new faces next season with backups moving into frontline roles.
Here’s an early look at projecting Georgia’s depth chart for 2025:
Offensive line
LT Monroe Freeling
LG Micah Morris
C Drew Bobo
RG Daniel Calhoun
RT Earnest Greene
Georgia lost four starters, but Freeling and Greene split starts at left tackle last season and Morris started five games and Bobo two. Calhoun is the furthest along of the 2024 signees and Bo Hughley could factor in the rotation. The offensive line didn’t live up to expectations last season so maybe this group can overachieve.
Quarterback
Gunner Stockton
Ryan Puglisi
Barring a have-to-get entry in the spring transfer portal window, Stockton is the favorite to start next season after a solid showing in the Sugar Bowl in his first start.
Running back
Nate Frazier
Roderick Robinson
Branson Robinson
Cash Jones
Nate Frazier becomes the top running back after Trevor Etienne decided to turn pro. Jones brings experience. The Bulldogs would be boosted if the Robinsons can avoid further injury setbacks.
Wide receiver
Zachariah Branch
Noah Thomas
Dillon Bell
Georgia’s most impactful transfers could be USC’s Branch and Texas A&M’s Thomas. Bell returns for his senior season. London Humphreys, Nitro Tuggle, Sacovie White and freshmen Talyn Taylor and CJ Wiley bring depth, and Colbie Young could be back depending on his legal case.
Tight end
Oscar Delp
Lawson Luckie
Delp and Luckie combined for 45 catches for 596 yards and seven touchdowns. The 6-foot-7, 235-pound Elyiss Williams should be in the mix as a big target soon at a position that also includes freshman Jaden Reddell.
Defensive line
Christen Miller
Joseph Jonah-Ajonye
Xzavier McCleod
Miller started 10 games last season and brings a measure of experience for a group that lost Nazir Stackhouse, Mykel Williams and Warren Brinson. McCleod had 13 tackles with two for loss in a backup role. Junior Jordan Hall has upside and Elijah Griffin, a 5-star from Savannah, could make an instant impact.
Linebackers
CJ Allen
Raylen Wilson
Gabe Harris
Allen and Wilson should be leaders on this defense at inside backer. Allen has started 17 games and Wilson had 47 tackles last season. Chris Cole and Justin Williams move into expanded roles. Harris and Quintavious Johnson are the top outside linebackers after Damon Wilson’s transfer to Missouri.
Defensive backs
Daylen Everette
Daniel Harris
Joenel Aguero
KJ Bolden
Jaden Harris
The addition of transfer safeties Harris from Miami and Adrian Maddox from UAB boost a secondary that already returns veteran cornerback Everette, freshman All-American Bolden and Aguero. Ellis Robinson, a former five-star, could push for a starting job at corner as a sophomore. JaCorey Thomas should compete for a starting job at safety and USC transfer Zion Branch adds depth.
Special teams
Peyton Woodring
Brett Thorson
Zachariah Branch
Woodring and Thorson should give Georgia one of the best kicking duos in the nation at placekicker and punter. Branch showed explosive ability as a returner as a freshman at USC.
