After hitting a career-high 17 points a week ago against Mississippi State on Dec. 4, former Lincoln Park guard Brandin Cummings made Pitt men’s basketball history Wednesday night in the team’s 96-56 win over Eastern Kentucky.

Cummings was on fire from the jump as he scored the first 12 points for the Panthers in the early stages of the contest.

Following the early offensive outburst for the freshman, the Midland native finished the night with 30 points going 10-for-15 from the field, 6-for-8 from three-point range and 4-for-6 from the free throw line.

The 30-point effort is the sixth 30-point game recorded by a Pitt freshman and sets the school freshman record for points off the bench. Cummings’ six three-pointers are also tied for the third most in a game by a Panther freshman.

The freshman’s career night was extra sweet as he did it in front of his family and friends, along with his brother Nelly Cummings, who was making his broadcasting debut for the Panthers on that night as well.

Cummings and the Panthers are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 21. They host their final non-conference game of the season, Pitt vs. Sam Houston, at 1 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
