Kansas State basketball will go after its second straight victory in the Big 12/Big East Battle series on Saturday morning against St. John’s at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, New York.
The Wildcats beat Villanova in overtime last year, to win for the first time in the annual matchup between the two conferences after dropping the first three — two to Marquette (2019 and 2021) and one against Butler (2022).
K-State (6-2) has won four of its last five games and is coming off back-to-back victories against Longwood for third place in the Paradise Jam and then breaking the school single-game scoring record last Sunday with a 120-73 blowout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Forward Achor Achor had 21 points, point guard Dug McDaniel 18 points with 10 assists and freshman guard David Castillo a career-high 17 points, all of them off the bench, against UAPB, while David N’Guessan added 17 points and eight rebounds and Max Jones 12 points to go with five assists. N’Guessan leads the team in scoring with 14.1 points per game.
JR Luis averages 17.6 points, Zuby Ejiofor 11.8 points and both of them 6.8 rebounds to lead St. John’s.
