MADISON – If there was any doubt that Wisconsin would have a new starting quarterback next season Braedyn Locke removed it Wednesday afternoon.
The redshirt sophomore quarterback announced on social media that he plans to enter the transfer portal. He’ll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
“Thank you to the University of Wisconsin, the coaches and my teammates for an unforgettable 2 years,” he wrote on X. “I’ll always cherish my time here.”
Locke threw for 2,713 yards, 18 touchdowns and 11 interceptions for the Badgers in 16 games over two seasons.
This year he made nine starts after Tyler Van Dyke was lost for the season with an ACL tear. Locke completed 164 of 296 passes. 55.4% for 1,936 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
His announcement came a couple of days after a report said that Van Dyke also plans to enter the transfer portal.
Their departures leave the Badgers with three QBs on the roster at the moment for next season. Mabrey Mettauer, who will be a redshirt freshman, and incoming freshman Carter Smith and Landyn Locke, Braedyn’s brother. Both newcomers plan to enroll early.
