Hello, old foe.
Marquette and Dayton have a long basketball history as former independent schools and members of the Midwestern Collegiate and Great Midwest conferences.
But the two former rivals haven’t met since 2008.
Marquette’s last nonconference game is a tough road test Saturday night at Dayton Arena. The No. 6 Golden Eagles are the highest-ranked team to visit Dayton since 2007. And Marquette is the first team ranked in the AP poll to play on the Flyers’ home floor since 2018.

With the 11th-toughest schedule through 10 games, Marquette is already road-tested, having won at Maryland and against Georgia in the Bahamas. The Golden Eagles also had their only loss at No. 3 Iowa State.
But this isn’t exactly a tuneup before the Big East season starts next week. Dayton (8-2) is undefeated at home and its only two losses came in the Maui Invitational against North Carolina and Iowa State.
