Missouri State basketball is done with finals, but it will have a big test on the West Coast when it travels to face Washington State.
The Bears (5-4, 0-1 MVC) will face the Cougars (8-2, 0-0 WCC) at 4 p.m. CT in Pullman, Washington. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Cuonzo Martin’s team has been off since an 80-77, loss to Indiana State at Great Southern Bank Arena in the Missouri Valley Conference opener on Dec. 7. The Bears’ last win came Dec. 1 in a 72-67 comeback at Oral Roberts.
Washington State is a year removed from its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008. The Cougars are led by first-year coach David Riley, who moved over from Eastern Washington, and he has the Cougars off to an 8-2 start with losses to SMU and Iowa. Notably, the Cougars beat MVC foe Bradley on Nov. 8, 91-74 at home. EWU transfer guard Cedric Coward leads the Cougars with 17.7 points per game.
The Bears will return home for a Wednesday 7 p.m. matchup with Lincoln (Division II) before concluding non-conference play against UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. The resumption of Valley play begins Dec. 29 at Evansville.
