LSU football’s 2025 schedule was released on Wednesday. The opponents weren’t a secret, but we now know the dates for LSU’s 2025 slate.
Schedules can make or break a season. It’s not just the quality of the opponent but how the games are sequenced. Playing back-to-back road games in the SEC isn’t easy.
LSU learned that lesson in 2024 when it ran out of gas in the second half vs. Texas A&M. If that game is in Tiger Stadium, we may be talking about a different result. LSU will be glad to know the 2025 schedule doesn’t include any back-to-back SEC trips, but it still figures to be one of the toughest in the conference.
In the 12-team playoff world, a hard schedule isn’t as daunting. SEC teams can lose two or even three games and remain in the College Football Playoff discussion.
With a tough nonconference opener, LSU will get an early resume-building chance.
Here’s a complete breakdown of LSU’s 2025 football schedule.
At Clemson — Aug. 30
LSU opens the year with the first installment of a home-and-home with Clemson.
Vs. Louisiana Tech — Sep. 6
LSU will play Louisiana Tech for the first time since 2018. The Tigers typically roll in these games, but they’re good for getting other Louisiana schools exposure.
Vs. Florida — Sep. 13
The LSU vs. Florida contest is earlier than fans are used to. These teams usually meet in mid-October or early November.
With LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier and Florida QB DJ Lagway both returning, this has a chance to be one of the best quarterback duels we see all year. LSU will be looking for revenge after Florida ended LSU’s SEC title hopes in 2024.
Vs. Southeastern Louisiana — Sep. 20
As usual, LSU will face an FCS opponent from Louisiana. This year, it’s Southeastern’s turn in the rotation. Just like we said with the Louisiana Tech game, LSU should roll. But this gives Southeastern’s players, many of whom grew up dreaming about playing in Tiger Stadium, a chance to do that.
The Ole Miss game is becoming one of the most exciting on LSU’s schedule. In 2023, the Rebels got the best of the Tigers in a shootout. LSU got revenge in 2024, winning in overtime and storming the field.
If both teams meet expectations in 2025, this one will have College Football Playoff implications.
Vs. South Carolina — Oct. 11
LSU staged a comeback to beat South Carolina in Columbia in 2024. The Gamecocks will be looking to return the favor on LSU’s home field next year.
With LaNorris Sellers returning at quarterback for South Carolina, there will be plenty of offseason hype around the program.
At Vanderbilt — Oct. 18
Vanderbilt took a huge leap in 2024, beating the likes of Alabama, Auburn, and Virginia Tech.
LSU managed to handle business, though. The Tigers will hope for a similar result when they travel to Nashville in 2025.
Vs. Texas A&M — Oct. 25
Former Brian Kelly assistant Mike Elko has Texas A&M heading in the right direction. LSU learned that the hard way in 2024 with a second-half collapse in College Station.
LSU will need a similar home-field advantage to the one A&M had this fall next year.
At. Alabama — Nov. 8
As usual, the Alabama game will be in early November, following a bye week. LSU entered the 2024 contest with high hopes, but an Alabama blowout let all the air out of LSU’s season.
The Crimson Tide will look different next year, but going to Bryant-Denny Stadium and winning is a tall task.
Vs. Arkansas — Nov. 15
LSU will look to keep its recent success for Arkansas going next year. The Tigers will get the Razorbacks at home. This will be LSU’s last SEC home game of 2025.
Portal season hasn’t been kind to Arkansas so far, but this team is usually a tough out under Sam Pittman.
Vs. Western Kentucky — Nov. 22
LSU’s final nonconference game will be against Western Kentucky in Tiger Stadium. The Hilltoppers are one of the stronger programs in the G5, but Brian Kelly and LSU should be able to handle business.
At Oklahoma — Nov. 29
Who knows what LSU’s season will look like or what the Tigers will be playing for at this point.
LSU could be wrapping up a disappointing season or competing for a playoff spot.
Either way, LSU will make its first trip to Norman. That’s not an easy place to play.
