According to multiple reports, Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Dylan Lonergan is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal in the near future.
A redshirt freshman, Lonergan has spent each of the last two seasons at Alabama as a backup to Jalen Milroe, while also sitting behind primary backup Ty Simpson on the depth chart in both seasons.
Over the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Lonergan has seen fairly limited action where he has completed a combined 7-of-8 passes for 35 yards, as well as rushing for 21 yards on two attempts.
This season, Lonergan has seen an increased amount of action, completing 5-of-6 passes for 23 yards, while also rushing for 16 yards on his lone rushing attempt across two games.

Prior to Alabama, Lonergan came to Tuscaloosa as a member of the Crimson Tide‘s 2023 recruiting class where he was a four-star quarterback out of Brookwood High School in Georgia. Lonergan also ranked as the No. 159 overall player in the class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 13 quarterback.
So far this offseason, Lonergan is the first member of Alabama’s quarterback room to reportedly depart the program.
