CANTON — The Indian Valley High School football team and Sandusky Perkins will wrap up the 2024 OHSAA football state championships this evening with the Division IV title game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
It’s the final of seven high school football championship games, concluding a busy schedule that ran from this past Thursday through Saturday at the stadium.

The unbeaten Braves defeated Cincinnati Taft 29-20 in a state semifinal, one of their closest games of the season.
How did Sandusky Perkins football reach the OHSAA Division IV state title game?
The 14-1 Pirates defeated two-time defending state champion Glenville 13-11 in a state semifinal, their eighth straight win since a 15-14 loss to Edison.
What to know about Indian Valley Braves football
Indian Valley is the first football program from Tuscarawas County to reach a state championship game, as the Braves won their first regional title this year to reach the final four. The Braves have 11 defensive players with 40 or more total tackles. Offensively, they scored 40 or more points in each of their first 14 games before scoring 29 last week. Their closest games of the year were a 45-41 win over Dover in Week 4 and a 40-35 win over Garaway in Week 7.

RB-LB Grady Kinsey: The 5-foot-9, 197-pound junior was a Mr. Football finalist this year and arrives in Canton as the state’s leading rusher with 3,031 yards and 45 TDs on 263 carries. He carried 32 times for 187 yards and three TDs a week ago. A three-year starter, he has 5,657 career rushing yards and more than 250 career tackles.

QB-LB Ryker Williams: The sophomore has rushed for 1,323 yards and 14 TDs on 161 carries, while also throwing for 1,004 yards with 11 TDs and four interceptions. He’s completed 60% of his 110 passes. Last week, he also made three sacks and a tackle for loss, pushing his season totals to eight sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

LB Jaxon Burcher: The senior leads the team with 89 tackles, including seven for losses.

OL David Striker: The 6-0, 160-pounder earned first-team All-East District.

OL-DL Hunter Peterman: Has seven tackles for loss among his 40 tackles, as the 5-11, 190-pounder earned first-team All-East District.
What to know about Sandusky Perkins Pirates football
Perkins will be looking for its second state championship in school history, having won a state title in 1999. Perkins eliminated two-time defending state champion Glenville 13-11 in the state semifinals. They limited the Tarblooders to three first downs a week ago. The Pirates have shut out six opponents this season and have not allowed more than 22 points in a game. They have scored at least five touchdowns in 10 games. The Pirates are 36-4 since 2022, winning nine playoff games in that stretch.
